Wild parrot takes off with GoPro, films astonishing footage of national park
Parrots are known for a lot of things. Beautiful color, silly antics, and of course, mocking people. But who knew they could be known for theft. This parrot, Kea, steals a family’s GoPro and takes us through a wild ride over Fiordland National Park in New Zealand. After landing to investigate the camera, Kea quickly realizes that what he’s stolen is of no use to him and decides to leave it alone. #parrot #nature
Parrots are genuinely remarkable birds. Known for their beautiful colors, hilarious antics, and of course, their ability to mock things that humans say—they’re genuinely one of the most magnificent birds.
On top of their exciting behaviors, parrots are actually brilliant. One parrot Kea, who calls Fiordland National Park in New Zealand home, had a funny trick up as sleeve.
As a family is visiting the national park, they leave their GoPro camera sitting out on a ledge. Kea sees this as an opportunity and quickly snags up the camera.

Finally finding a spot to land, Kea sets the camera down and begins investing what it is that he’s just seen. While he might be a little bit confused, he’s definitely interested.
Picking away at the camera piece by piece, it seems that he might have mistaken it for some food. With a selection of plastic in his mouth, he finally realizes that what he’s found is of no use to him.
Eventually, a young boy runs up, yelling, “I’ve found it,” as he picks the GoPro back off the ground. This serves as a reminder to watch your belongings closely when parrots are around.
