There are times when rescuers find animals who are in bad shape. They may have broken front legs, broken back legs, cut faces. Those are relatively easy to fix. Even animals who are missing limbs can possibly have prosthetics that enable them to move around. What about something that can’t be replaced? A rescuer found a bird who had the top part of his beak fall off. It looks like he has an underbite now. It’s not stopping him from having fun, as this video shows.

We see Cameron, a Quaker parrot who has a broken beak, sitting on top of a towel on a dresser laughing loudly. He does this for thirty seconds. It’s cute but it can also be a little disconcerting to hear straight through that time. It’s like “Is he going to stop? Really? He’s not stopping. OK. That’s 15 seconds there. Still going.” Having this happen is like when you read something like “The room went quiet for a minute.” A minute of REAL silence is unnerving. Same thing here.

It’s great that Cameron has adapted to his beak situation. I’ve heard of other birds with the same condition being able to get by just fine. That’s the case here. It’s cute that he’s seemingly so cheerful. I’d also be laughing once he got started. Laughter is infectious, after all. It’s better to catch a laughing fit rather than the flu .

I’m just happy that Cameron hasn’t learned to laugh like Vincent Price at the end of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” That would be a disconcerting thing to hear all the time. Imagine sitting there trying to relax and then all of a sudden… “AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA… AHAHAHAHAHA…” in the same gravelly tone of voice. I’d be hiding under the bed while Cameron would be looking at me like, “What are you doing?”
