Male bird-of-paradise puts on breathtaking dance display

The most beautiful bird of their family, the blue bird-of-paradise, is around 30 cm in length. This excludes their long tail. The males are black with white eye-rings. However, these birds' main attraction is their shiny, blue wings. The males beautifully present themselves to the female audience. These birds are found in Papua New Guinea and need to be protected. #birds #wildbirds

The blue bird-of-paradise, also known as Paradisornis Rudolphi, is one of the most beautiful birds worldwide. The bird’s blue feathers get enhanced with equally beautiful dancing when they are ready to court.

The bird’s upper body is black in color, the flight feathers are light bluish-white, and the feathers near the tail have a light brown shade. This shade adds to the beauty of the cute little being.

The dark gray legs and the white eye-ring near the eyes make these birds look remarkable. The males are usually adorned with violet-blue colored long & soft feathers with two long thread-like tail feathers.

The females have chestnut-brown feathers, and they appear to be a bit dull in color than the males. These birds are found in the mountain forest located in Papua New Guinea.

The diet of the blue birds-of-paradise is formed of different types of fruits and berries. But they occasionally eat insects. The males dance beautifully during the mating season, showing their breathtaking beauty.

The male bird hangs upside down from the branch of a tree and starts pulsating his body, creating a black oval shape. This is covered by beautiful blue feathers contracting and enlarging rhythmically.

Usually, the females lay only one egg, and the would-be mom becomes very defensive and protective about the egg. However, they have a limited population, and the blue birds-of-paradise need to be protected.
